What is a carbon estimation area (CEA)?

For human-induced regeneration (HIR) projects, CEAs are the areas of land where the native forest is supposed to be regenerating as a result of the project activities. These are the areas that are credited. The CEAs sit within the project area (see figure below). They are shown on the Explorer in lilac.
